The best beer comes from independent brewers. And the best country music comes from independent bands. To prove it, Shiner Beer launched the Shiner Showcase – a weekly online battle of independent bands. The winner gets to open up a concert for popular independent country music artists Randy Rogers and Wade Bowen.
To get bands interested, Shiner ran a call for entries across all major social channels.
Hundreds of bands visited the Shiner Showcase site and entered the competition.
For five weeks, Randy Rogers and Wade Bowens judged entries, choosing one band each week to be featured as "Band Of The Week." This promoted Shiner's independent spirit and gave some up-and-coming musicians some much needed exposure.
After Randy and Wade chose the two finalists, fans voted online to pick the winner.
Once the votes were tallied across all media, Randy and Wade announced the grand prize winner.
But there were many winners, because Shiner helped promote a number of seldom-heard artists by sharing their music on Shiner's Spotify playlist.
If that weren't enough, Randy and Wade gave Shiner fans an augmented reality mini-concert via Snapchat. All you had to do was point your camera at a Shiner Bock six-pack.
